Default Upper Control Arm u/s

I experienced some brake judder a few months back after brake pads were replaced. It was put down to discs and so these were changed too. Well, it wasnt gone completely and on the way to the A8Parts meet 2 weeks ago it was very noticeable. (I've done little motorway driving in teh last few months.) Mike (CtL) was kind enough to check the suspension over on the lift at PMS and there was nothing obviously wrong. After checking it in to the local independent and some investigation its appear that the problem may by the nearside upper control arms and n/s track rod end.

So, what recommends for replacement - Audi OEM /Europarts etc - and should both sides be done at the same time? I need to order parts in the morning so any advice is welcome.

By the way Jim, is this covered under the 5 year /100k warranty you gave me?

I did all my upper arms with Meyle HD replacements - there's a thread with details on here under my name. Once they'd bedded in I've been very happy with them. They were a little harsh in terms of nvh but this soon went after a couple of longer journeys. I'd recommend them for sure

I would do all 4 as doing one involves as much dismantling as 2 on each side. Mine had an advisory at mot for an inner bush being worn and I chose to replace the lot as the parts are relatively cheap

If I can find the other thread I'll post a link

I did read CtLs thread on "MoT Time" re his front suspension probs and noted that Meyle arms were favoured as good quality /cheaper alternative but there was mention of items for half the Meyle cost.

Here you go

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5322

I'd buy from allgermanparts if you want them quickly - the lot I bought through we're slow to deliver so if you plan to do them soon they'll pen drive you nuts!

The place I bought from does have a good parts search identifier but a call to allgermanparts will probably be just as quick

Steering joints should be a stock part so also cheap

Will need an alignment check after replacing also as it will have sagged a bit on old bushes

Many thanks, Adrian. I have just found a Meyle HD kit from expresscarparts.co.uk full kit - both sides - for £434.00 ouch. The allgermancar site couldnt respond to enquiries.
Is that the ball park figure?

Just been and explained the matter to The Treasury. Apparently saying its only the same as a few visits to the hairdressers wasnt a good plan.
