Default Cat light flashing

So after a few weeks of owning my D2 PF V8, I'm finally figuring out why it was so cheap!

The first thing to fix is the exhaust. I was driving down a dual carriageway today at a steady pace when the cat light started flashing on the dash. I knew the exhaust was blowing and by the sounds of it it's got worse although nothing has fallen off. It started running a bit rough too but it still has plenty of power.

My question is, would an exhaust failure cause the cat light to flash or does it mean that one of the cat's is genuinely goosed too?

Thanks, Matt

CAT light flashing is normally un-burnt fuel going down the pipes but seeing you have a blow i could be blowing near or around where the cat joins the pipe and the sniffers in the CAT's don't like it maybe.

Get her into an exhaust specilist, someone that can bend stainless tube to suit, my cats have been welded onto the pipes and i have made some flanges to help the fitter at the time. There are threads on here about exhaust repairs / fixes and places to buy CAT's if you need to.

Thanks Dezzy

Managed to get it in the garage today and it turns out I'm an idiot! While the exhaust is blowing the main problem was that it was it was only running on 7 cylinders! So your diagnosis of in unburnt fuel was spot on!

New coil, spark plug and a bit of welding and she's back on the road (although I've not picked her up yet).

Thanks again,

Matt
