My old PF S8 was delimited by the owner before me.
It involved replacing a chip, so programming AND soldering.
I even inherited (and hopefully passed on) the actual chip that was removed!

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Depends if it is PF or FL. Either way the software in the ECU should be modified it's just that in FL it can be done through OBD but on PF soldering job only. Or just cut the speed signal wire from instrument cluster

I wouldnt get too excited.... It takes a heck of a lot of flat tarmac to get the S8 to 155mph, unless you're a regular autobahn stormer or have your own private airstrip I think it would be a complete waste of time tbh.....

its an 02 so its FL model.

Reason for enquiring was that, having been on the Autobahns & the Nurburgring earlier this year, i fancied going back.

My old S8 would be a great car for making the trip.

Working in the motor trade means that iv got access to plenty of diagnostic software, and wondered if it had to be VAGCOM or if any decent quality diagnostic computers can do the job.

I had also wondered which option to go into to remove the TV-in-motion restrictions

Or do like me and a couple others did and get the Revo map put on it. That removes the limiter at the same time. I had a GPS measured 158mph out of my S8 and it was still pulling hard enough to convince me 170mph was possible.

Really? - I didn't know that, though I must admit i've not tested it at that speed . I tend to agree with Ian really, but good to know, should the need arise

Yes really, on the Autobahn coming back from the Nurburgring 2 years ago. Took surprisingly little time to get there, but does need a lot of distance as you covering a mile every 25 secs or so at the speed. 158mph measured from the sat nav GPS, the car speedo was indicating near 165mph. The speed was still steadily rising, no way near topping out, but traffic prevented me from safely going any quicker.

I've seen my standard PF A8 show 160mph on a stretch of dual carriageway at four in the morning, and it still felt like it had more to give........exhilarating indeed! Not sure of the speedo accuracy but it was on standard 18's at the time. The thing I remebember most is that despite the speed the wind noise / buffering was more prominent than engine or tyre noise so Audi's sound-proofing and glazing on the A8 really is exceptional in my book
