I couldnt beleive it, I got a offer already! or so I thought...
It was by text, and said I had to go to this website to reply to the potential buyer, but right at the end it asks me for a booking fee of £80! Looks like a scam to me, anyone heard of this website? http://www.corp-autotrader.com |

Thanks
![]() I did think it was a bit strange to send an offer without seeing the car. I wish I used that free Auto Trader service which masks your mobile and blocks dodgy numbers. other preople are asking about it too: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?p=24943046 |

Goran
real buyers normally ring (unless they are mute and there are not many of them about) they ask questions about the car. mileage eft, may ask you what you will take for it. Then come and look at it, pay you for it or leave a deposit Genuine buyers won't only text you or Make you a offer without seeing the car and say they will send there agent to pick it up or use Weston union or want you to pay anything Be careful there are a lot of scams and scammers Cheers dave Ps your car looks great in the photos you should have no problem selling it.

Thanks, I hope you are right.
I definitely need to be more careful, I dont have much experience of selling cars. I was taken off guard by a scam so soon after placing the advert. Main thing is I didnt give them £80. Also the statement "this booking is only valid for 24 hours" was a clue that it was a scam, trying to rush me to give them money. |

Not sure about the phone only comment. Of the 7 texts I got when I sold my dad's A4 Avant, the first two were scams/ads (one was the one noted above), and the other 5 were genuine buyers, all of whom sent a text first to check out the basics before following up with a call and visit, where appropriate.
All 5 of these found it via Autotrader, four viewed the car, and one of them travelled 200 miles to buy it, 10 days after it was listed. However, a 2005 A4 Avant has a bigger target market than a (very nice...) D2 S8. If I was looking, I'd be interested ![]() |

I knew someone would pick up on that! I nealy underlined only .
Genuine buyers won't ONLY text you! Most want to speak to you to check you out as well. Scammers avoid a conversation as much as possible, maybe because you could trick 100s of people at the same time, using generic messages and they only need 1 a week to fall for it, to be on a good earner. There are so many ways to con you out of your car and your money! Be careful Dave
