Default Hidden Menu

I was sat in the car bored and I thought I would start having a look about the hidden menu in the MMI.
With most of it being in german and not understanding it, I never changed anything but noticed that loads of options was tickets.

Going by this menu, I should have DAB radio, ACC, tyre pressure monitoring, reversing camera, lane option or something to do with lanes and some other options.

Everything I know I got works, the system is a bit slow at times but it work.

Has anyone else has had a look at the hidden menu and see what they got ticked?

I had to enable the hidden menu, so I don't think anyone has gone in had a play but I do wonder why the bits are ticked?

Quite possible your can gateway has been replaced, or someone before you has been messing with vcds.

But on my car i get an error if the can gateway is incorrectly coded.

Be careful what you tick (or untick) Some of that stucc can be done with the long coding in VCDS, but because the system can run on multiple cars, you can turn on daft things with headlights, oil sensors, etc. that don't exist on the A8, but can cause strange happenings.

I wont randomly be turning things off.
Knowing my luck I'd brick the unit.

I always thought the unit would error as well.
I've also noticed while looking at the coding in VCDS that some options I have got are not set in the relevant section.
Tiptronic controls for example.
I got them, they work but its not coded.

I'll get on VCDS and check the part numbers and see if that says anything about it being changed.

Some cars code different things in different modules by the looks of it too.. so the car may be coded correctly, but and option also exists elsewhere for a different model, if that makes sense.

Whatever you do, don't go anywhere neat the bootloader option as that erases the MMI firmware and the only way out is to flash it again.

Secret menu!! Now that sounds interesting, how do you get into that?

The Audi garage that recently and assembly unneeded lay replaced my handbrake module this week, when they put it in, I've noticed that the car no longer auto hand brakes when the cars switched off, I now manually have to engage it every time I stop, which is not only not as I had it before Audi broke t, and fitted and charged me a fortune, but a car of this calibre I shouldn't be having to manually handbrake a car when the engines powered down. Is this a feature that I can engage easily in the car by using this secret menus by selecting or deselecting a tick somewhere?

To be honest as soon as I get back from Spain, which I will be leaving for in about two hours... I rally need to put aside a few days and get the car set up to how I want it, as I'm not really sure how much of it works. When I bought it the seats used move back when powered off so that you could get out and then once I got back on it would then set it back up where it puts me back in the right place for how I like to drive. This no longer does this and not sure whether I've turned it off... But picking various feature on my car interest me greatly... So if anyone is about on the 20th and wants to meet up then that would be great!

Regards, Mark.

Model: MY 2008 08 3.0TDI Quattro Sport, Black on Black (Transporter Edition) Lowered 60mm on drop link bars. Alloys swapped out to RS6 style 20" x 9.5". It's got full tints on all windows, and has the black leather interior. Remapped by Elite Automotive in Cornwall, giving an increase output to 290bhp/450lbs.

Options: Keyless Entry & Start, Bluetooth Hands Free, Quad Zone Climate, 3 Spoke Sports Tiptronic Multi Function Steering Wheel, Black Leather Comfort Seats, AMI, Drivers & Passenger Electric Memory Seats, Auto Dimming Mirrors, Bi-Xenons.

Future Plans:
Selling my current Audi A8 Quattro Sport and replace is with a newer D4 Audi A8L with the 4.2V8 Twin Turbo setup once again it must be black. I'm looking for one with the options added where it has the rear recliing seats, with heated outers. Bose speakers minimum and B&O's if affordable. Rear and back door sun blinds prefered.

Planned Mods:
Upon the arrival of my A8L D4, I will be once again having the ECU remapped to a performance setting over economy. Rear Tints as dark as can go whilst also tinting the front windows with a medium tint. Once again I will be purchasing lowering links for the air ride suspension and setting it at 55mm lower when in comfort as my desire rideheight over standard. Alloys will be 21" however the one current most likly to be the next car already has a brand new set of 2016 S8Plus wheels on it.

I think we are back on the mid day point of the 19th so time I get back home, catch up on sleep and get the all exclusive holiday alcohol out of my system the evening of the 20th sounds perfect, thank you.

But yeah not sure why the handbrake is manual only now, I assumed that when the main dealers replaced the module that it was going to go back as the same, but that is not the case. If there is a quick little tick we can do somewhere to make that happen then that would be awesome.

Regards, Mark.

My PF had auto handbrake, but I think it was disabled in newer firmware versions, probably to reduce strain and failure rates.
