Dip beam bulb replacement - s8 2006
My 2006 S8 had 141,000 miles on the original lights which have become dimmer over time. I bought some new bulbs courtesy of a fellow board member, who told me how difficult they were to fit.
I decided to ask my Indy, Jack at Sharp Autos in Bracknell, to fit them as he was taking the air filter box out to top up the pas fluid. However, despite all his experise, getting the clip back on the ballast/igniter proved impossible. Removing the headlamp looked like it needed the bumper to come off ( not if I can help it!) so we reverted to plan C, peel back the wheel arch liners. Lo and behold, you can actually see and work on the dip beam bulbs! Mission accomplished in 30 minutes courtesy of a proper car lift and wheels off.
Worth knowing for those who need to work on dip beam bulbs hidden behind air filter boxes and various pipes etc.
Cheers
