Default Mini Honeymoon

A friend if getting married in Minnesota in June this year and invited us to his big day.
Which is great and he's getting married on our 1 year anniversary.
We've not had chance to have a honeymoon yet and we've been toying with the idea of having week mini honeymoon after his wedding.

Our new jobs have shrunk our holiday entitlement and we can only do 2 weeks away in June.

The wife's been wanting to go away somewhere hot with clear beaches.
The Bahamas popped up on the map when I was looking around America.

My basic idea is fly London to Minnesota, week in Minnesota and then fly off somewhere else, possibly Bahamas cause its warm and has nice beaches.
Plus its not somewhere we would normally go.

Has anyone been or could recommend somewhere to go for a week around that side of the world that's warm with good beaches and water activities?

If you've not yet been, Cuba is a must-see

It seems that most of the islands in that area are worth seeing.

But which one?

I've never done this sort of trip before, its all a massive learning curve for me.

The best beaches are Varadero, but you must do at least 2-3 nights in Havana, it's fascinating

Just to add to this, go to the beaches at Varadero and really you could be at any beach anywhere around the world, and the same goes for almost all beach destinations in my opinion.

Havana, on the other hand, is unique, there's not really anywhere else like it, that's why you need to experience it sooner rather than later, before it loses all that charm.
