Default Change of door inserts

Now, I know that the door inserts on the D2 often (always?) didn't match the rest of the 'wood' trim, because they were manufactured by different companies apparently (who at Audi thought that was a good idea?), but I've always thought the non-'wood' inserts that seem to be common in later models were a bit bland.

Mine were also a bit scratched and chipped in parts.

So, I bought a set in maple over platinum in very condition from our sponsors. What do you think (before and after photos below)?

I've considered doing the same a few times.

I think the wood looks better, but I also think it looks less modern.

I've also considered painting mine, but I can't decide what colour would look best. I'm contemplating plasti-dipping them (in metalic/aluminium perhaps) as a temporary/experimental way to paint them.

Definitely better

Did the same on mine (same pattern of 'wood' too) and apart from not being able to get a lower shell for the drivers door in the matching finish I'm very happy with the results.

My plastic trims were quite heavily scuffed esp drivers door so was keen to have a harder wearing finish and break up the purple!

Definitely better, I did mine too a while back and posted the results here.

That combination looks almost identical to my old PF S8 as it came out of the factory.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Looks good, Jim. From the before and after pics, I prefer the wood.

Here's mine, sprayed in Aqua Blue, same as the exterior. Looks great when the sun shines on it through the sunroof

I got them just a week or two ago. They've been for sale for ages, but I procrastinated for ages too!

They're Maple though, not Myrtle: I've had my name down for Myrtle ones too.
