An update to my last message. Tried uploading a screenshot to explain, in both JPG and PNG formats, and they both fail.
Anyway, In you go into the 'User CP' section > 'Edit Options' (under 'Settings & Options'), on the main page there is a section called 'Messaging & Notification'. Within that, there are two sub-sections called 'Default Thread Subscription Mode' and 'Private Messaging'.
Within 'Default Thread Subscription Mode', I have the dropdown set to 'Instant email notification', and within 'Private Messaging', I have check boxes 1,3 and 5 ticked.
