Default WITW - Andrew's Irish Green

Next up, as most of you have figured out, is Andrew's Irish Green Pearl S8 I picked it up the other day, hence why Andrew has Big Red on his driveway, and it has been sitting on the driveway with my S8 while I sorted out some stuff in the workshop.

Before taking it apart, it also went to see a few specialists for jobs I'll be farming out. I was working to a very tight timescale to get it finished before the annual meet, and while that pressure is relieved now, I still have things booked in after it, so I still need to get a move on.

The first job was a door ding which was fixed on Monday by Dean of Dentcure, then it went to see Fix Auto in Crediton who are going to paint the bonnet as it has some rather unsightly lacquer peel. Next up was David Knight of Knight Detailing in Cullompton who is going to sort out the interior, and finally to Nicola of Fiftyfive Details who is going to get the paintwork looking sharp again

Fix are painting the bonnet while the engine is out. People seem slightly bemused when I take them only the part I want them to deal with, rather than the whole car, but that just seems logical to me. No point having it sitting in a bodyshop for a week while I could be working on the engine, but as a D2 bonnet won't fit inside anything I own, I made a bespoke roof rack for the Allroad so I can bolt the bonnet to it using the hinge points and catches. That way I can bring it back without having to run a strap over fresh paint.

I'll try and get some better photos when it comes back.

The interior then came out before it went on to the lift. David is equally puzzled by me simply taking him the interior, but happy to stick it all in the corner of his workshop and work on it between other jobs. The driver's seat is going to the UK Detailing Academy for recolouring, as they can scan the original leather and mix Colourlock products to suit. Luckily, they already know me, so won't be at all surprised when I turn up with a loose seat in the boot

Its the first time one has been partially dismantled before it even gets in the door No time to waste though.

Sitting on foam pads to reverse in to the workshop

I'll start removing the drivetrain tomorrow
