To me the older RNS-E look to have black plastic, I don't remember noticing any difference when looking at Sergey's car.
Perhaps you mean the newer units which are clearly lighter and grey in colour as can be seen by ebay photos?
I can't imagine needing to boot polish an already black plastic, or for that matter anything in the car. Not exactly a fitting finish for a D2.
Perhaps matching the colour and airbrushing would be more acceptable.
Have a look at Ian's post 14 in this thread, the unit is pretty much identical in colour. Only maybe the finish is a tiny tiny shade more matt than RNS-D. That's not going to bother me.
