It's time for a update on my S8. Unfortunately, I haven't done anything with valve spring job since my last post as I've been dreading on removing the cylinder heads.
I really don't have many interior pictures of my car so I took two pictures not too long ago. Hopefully what I just purchased not too long ago, will help motivate me to get working on the valve replacement job. Here is what I purchased to swap into my car, oxblood red interior I do have the arm rests which is not in this picture. While I was removing the black rear seats, I noticed this bracket is missing the bolts. What size bolts are these? So I can buy replacements. I got the rear seat out and there wasn't a picture for the seat back-rest hooks so here is what it looks like. It looks like one of the previous owner had a dog ride in the back seat as there is hair everywhere It took me some time to clean up everything. What is this red line for? Here is a picture of the rear seat wires and I noticed one of them is different. This yellow connector is different from the back-rest to the car's connector. So I can't connect them together. I don't have this problem with the other side of the car. I removed the black door cards and I need to know if these are still available? While I was cleaning up the oxblood door cards, I noticed one of them has a very bad tear in it . Can this be repaired? I had to re-glue these foam strips. Can this part of the leather be fixed? Or do I need to take it to have it professionally repaired?

While I was removing the black rear seats, I noticed this bracket is missing the bolts.
What size bolts are these? So I can buy replacements. M6x20 with a repair washer What is this red line for? Central locking vacuum pipework This yellow connector is different from the back-rest to the car's connector. So I can't connect them together. I think you are missing the outer shell of the connector which has the half-round shape and the locking tab. Will that piece actually fit in the car-side connector? I removed the black door cards and I need to know if these are still available? 4D0867299D, still available from Tradition While I was cleaning up the oxblood door cards, I noticed one of them has a very bad tear in it . Can this be repaired? To an extent athough likely not invisibly. It looks like the plastic panel has broken, so that'll need bonding / welding back together from behind so it pulls the vinyl back together. Once thats all sound the vinyl can be repaired with a filler compound. It'll be visible up close, but probably good from ten feet. Can this part of the leather be fixed? Or do I need to take it to have it professionally repaired? Because of the extreme difficulty of getting this apart without destroying everything, my stock answer (at this time) is no. The leather, foam, and plastic backing are all plastic-welded to the main door card, so to get them apart you need to mechanically separate the weld, without ruining the leather. You can't get the leather out from the front, and I think it would be practically impossible to get it back in and look good if you did get it out. I say 'at this time' because I haven't done it yet, and I haven't seen anyone else do it either, however I do have precedent for cutting up and customising door cards so it is on my list to try. If I figure out a non-destructive repair then I'll post it up. |

Thanks for all the information MJ you're the best .
The yellow connectors do plug in together but doesn't hold because it looks like it broke. MJ, do you have a spare connector you could sell me? Also, what is this connector for? I'm probably going to take the damaged door card to a upholstery shop and have them fix it as I have no experience with it. I'm going to leave the loose leather on the door cards alone as I don't want to ruin anything. Speaking of items being plastic-welded, I found out the hard way that the door card speaker grille is plastic-welded because I removed one of them from my black door card to use on my oxblood door card and it just falls off. So it looks like I need to use plastic epoxy to fasten the grille on.

You also need the terminals for the wires, but these only seem to come in the form of 'repair wires' with part number 000979010EA. Can't find a part number just for the terminal itself.

It looks like the centre part with terminals is still intact, just the outer shell is missing, so there shouldn't be any need for wiring.
I do have spare connectors, but its probably easier to get a wiring cut from someone stateside and then dismantle the connector. Or, cable tie / hot glue it together |

Wasn't thinking straight... even though I checked his original photo a couple of times.

Here is another picture of the air bag connector.
I used this used this write up to help me with removing the door cards. The link I provided doesn't have a picture of how the door handle release cable is attached, so I took a picture (I might have to take a better picture when I do the front door cards) to show how the cable is attached. This is a 8 mm bolt. I got both rear door cards installed but haven't installed the window switch trim yet as I'm going to replace the tiny light bulb. Also I need use plastic epoxy to fasten the speaker grille back on. I have a little issue with my door cards because it doesn't sit flush against the door. What is causing this gap? Also the top of the door card for the screw doesn't align up. Got the seat back-rest installed. Now waiting on the connector shell to come in.

The link I provided in my last post (which is missing some important items which I will highlight here), doesn't state anything about this bracket for the front door cards.
Sorry that this isn't the best picture but the above picture of the bracket is for holding a wiring harness. After you get the lower door handle cover off, there is two little screws (already removed in this picture) that need to be removed and then there are two 8 mm bolts that needs to be removed. Once you remove the door card, you can pry up this large air tube so you can get the wires removed. I haven't figured out how to remove the round push pin without damaging it. This picture is from the front oxblood door card where the push pin is broken that holds the large air tube seen in the picture above. These retaining clips (with the red dot) needs to be removed in order to remove the wires. This memory seat switch needs to be removed. Then you need to remove the wire plug in order to push the wire through. This is the oxblood front door card with the wire plug removed.

I finally got the push pin retainer removed but unfortunately it broke. Now it looks like I need to make the hole bigger so I can buy a universal push pin retainer.
What is this air tube for?
