Brilliant!

The special effects are a bit laughable by today's standards, but it's worth watching:

Might have to download it myself; it must be 20 years or more since I last watched it.

I wish we'd have taken more photos now, but we managed to take a few ...

I'd like to give a big THANK YOU as well to everyone involved in this years meet. From the forum sponsors, without whom none of it would have happened, to all the forum members that spent countless hours of their time arranging the event and all that entails, especially including the awesome test drives of the Audis and the Tesla, and finally to all the forum members themselves (and their SWMBOs and SOs) who attended the meet. It was a fantastic weekend. Can't wait for the next one!

Default I Am Not A Number

Finally got around to checking my emails and the forum. There is a 'Thank You' thread which I commented in, but just to say here, Thanks to all concerned for a fantastic weekend.

No photos (very few BTW) or videos yet, so you'll just have to wait

The only thing that spoiled it for me was my neck giving out for the second year in a row. Had a splitting headache from around mid afternoon Friday, and it still hasn't fully gone away. It was that bad in fact that the significance of the "I am not a number" didn't hit me until midnight last night (Sunday).

It was great meeting up with everyone again, but apologies to those I didn't say goodbye to, due to my ferry crossing being cancelled, and having to get an earlier sailing.

So, to give context, the D2 S8 does 0-60 in around 6.5, the D3 S8 does it in something like 5.1, and the RS6 I have does it in 4.5. Each feels quite a bit quicker than the last.

Then the Tesla does it in 3.1. The difference is the Tesla delivers all its grunt from the set off, where even the mighty RS6 has to spin its turbos to give the full 571 BHP effect.

So Hell yes, its noticeable.... The RS6 sounds better, looks better and does have a nicer cabin, but its slower, to 60 at least.

Ironically, the Tesla will go further on a 'full tank' too....

Just to add our thanks to Neil and Stephen for a great weekend, had a great time. SWMBO thought it was "too car orientated" this year but absolutely no complaints on that front from me and Connor

Brilliant weekend

Agreed.

And the torque makes a huge difference too of course. The RS6 peaks at about 700 Nm I believe, whereas the Tesla develops close to 1000 Nm, but that's instantly and constantly.

I think the terms 'fast' and 'quick' probably best describe the differences, as can be seen from this video of a Tesla Model S P85D vs Lamborghini LP570-4 STS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4CnSS4OG4A
(Isn't that Lambo sound just gorgeous though!)

The Tesla is clearly 'quicker' than the Lambo, particularly off-the-line, but the Lambo is still the 'faster' car.

I loved the RS6; how it looked, how it sounded and how it drove, but the P85D is just a technically astonishing car. The urgency by which it accelerates has to be experienced to be believed.

In fact, on the strength of my experience and description alone, one of my customers (the owner of a couple of large garden centres) drove to the Knutsford Tesla dealership this afternoon to experience it for himself, where he met the lady who demonstrated to us this weekend (and he mentioned the A8/S8 meet). He actually got to drive the P85D and it's now looking likely that the garden centre will be buying at least 2 of them (possibly even 4 or more) as director's vehicles. They're also looking to install charging points, for public use, at both garden centres.
