Thumbs up Wanted engine cover and surround for A3 1.9Tdi 8P1 2009

Hi there guys & gals
As it states above "engine cover for My A3
"BUT here is the kicker the oil filler hole MUST be on the left/driver's side.
You have heard the saying "oh they are like "rocking horse ****" to get hold of"
Well, that sums up my quest to obtain one of these.
Here are the full details
A3 1.9Tdi 8P1 March 2009 3-door hatchback BLS engine.
I have supplied two images so I know they are out there
One image is from a breakers yard and he told me that he didn't want to split it from the engine.
The other image is from a neighbour's car (he has now got a Renault Meganne)
I think that there is a slight bit of discrepancy between the two engine covers's maybe somebody might be able to steer me in the right direction

I'm assuming it's not this one being sold by an obscure dealer up North?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195508420814

Or am I getting confused by you saying that the hole must be on the left/driver's side when my understanding here in Germany is that cars in Sheffield have the driver's side on the right?

Dean, I guess it depends which way you're looking?
From the front, bonnet open, drivers side is left for a RHD car, common in the UK and probably Sheffield England (there are several Sheffields in the USA!). In the drivers seat it's right.
Maybe our poster is a bit confused about accurately describing what he/she wants?

The part number for the cover is 03G103967B, and you'll find a few on eBay. Just note the exact part number as eBay throws in other ones as well.

EDIT: Just noticed it's the one Spanker linked to!

Hi there
Many thanks for your contribution
You hit the nail on the head, that is why in my thread I took into account that some members will NOT be in the U.K, hence the term.
Regarding the eBay link that looks exactly like my current engine cover except mine is a lot cleaner, that cover must have been on several months on history the earliest date is Dec 2022

So the eBay link is the part that you're looking for?

Hi there
In a succinct way for everybody to understand MY vehicle is a 1.9Tdi 3-door hatchback March 2009 8P1, the driver's side is on the left the oil filler hole should be on the left.
Compare this with an A3 2.0Tdi 2011 registration
https://www.ebay.com/itm/28510042424...Bk9SR_Tz94CyYQ
You will notice this DEALER does NOT show which side the driver sits.
So to prevent any further discrepancies I have uploaded a side view and you can see that the steering wheel is on the RIGHT, THIS image
>

I am seeking an engine cover for my vehicle which is an Audi A3 1.9Tdi 3-door hatchback, to help people decide I am supplying two images of EXACTLY what I am seeking.
* My A3 side view
* Breakers cover
* The one that I want
* My existing cover
I am ALSO supplying an image of my current "engine cover" where the oil filler hole is on the left OR driver's side.
If you open the bonnet (NOT hood) the oil filler should be / will be on the left
If you are sat behind the steering wheel in my car the oil filler hole will be on your RIGHT.
I hope that has cleared up any confusion that some members might have.
I can't be any clearer than that

Ok. I asked whether the link I gave above was for the part that you're looking for.

However you mention that it's like your current one but not as clean and then continue to show the side of the car.

I'm sorry to say that I think that you're adding to the confusion. At least for me
Maybe it's a Sunday morning thing

The photos in the ebay link you give DO show that the steering wheel is on the left as it is a left hand drive vehicle (LHD).

At the risk of sounding condescending (it's not coming across clearly that we're on the same page here), when it comes to cars and car parts, the sides are determined by the position of the driver in the vehicle, facing forward. Meaning, looking over the bonnet, and sitting in the driver’s seat, your left hand is the left side, your right hand is the right side.

The image you've uploaded of a side shot "seems" to show the steering wheel nearest to the camera. This would suggest that is a typical UK RHD car.
So any part on the "steering wheel side" of that car is a "right" part.
I mention that just for any future reference.

So on to the part.......
If you're looking at the engine cover from the FRONT of the car (as you would when you've lifted the bonnet), the oil aperture would be on the LEFT of the PART in your pictures (and also in the photos that the dealer put in their eBay ad that you posted). Even though it's on the RIGHT side of the car.

If you look here you can see the engine section of a 2009 A3:
http://autofans.info/audi/ersatzteil...s_typ=646&hg=1

Search for "cover" on that page and of the 22 results, look for the one next to the 1.9 diesel " cover for intake manifold" and BLS/BXE engine. (It's the 17th result for me).
Then click that option to go to this page:
http://autofans.info/audi/katalog.ph...dtafel2=103052

Look for part number 8 in the list below.
There are two of them:
03G103967B which is next to the BLS to the right (the one you mentioned)
03G103925CA for the BXE

If you search online for both part numbers you can see the part number ending in B for the BLS engine has it's hole on the left.
https://www.prestigemotorservices.co...em-336347.html

If you search for the part with the CA at the end you can see that the part has the hole on the right.
https://www.prestigemotorservices.co...em-199589.html

Here's hoping that you've now got the part number that you want or need and that you can search around for a clean one. Or if not, you know where to look to get part numbers for your cars.

(I use the Autofans.info site because it gives me more info that the audi.7zap.com site but it can be a bit slow at times)

This thread is certainly confusing! A RHD car (right hand drive) is so called because the driver sits on the right! That’s the generally understood terminology for which side of the car is right and which is left. Perhaps we should start again?

All very pertinent and exact information has been provided by Spanker, and yes, your car is RHD based on the photo.

To make things very clear and unambiguous, the engine cover does NOT come in LHD/RHD versions. There is only one version available and both Spanker and I have provided appropriate links. A RHD car is not a 100% mirror image of a LHD car, so the vast majority of parts are applicable to both.
