Just wondering what the connectors to the switches are like? Any pictures?
(or are they easy to pop out and look at?)

The last time I did anything in any way similar to that (adding rear interior lights into my Focus) I constructed an "extension lead", largely from blade connectors, away from the car with colour-coded wires so that it was a simple reversible "plug and play" job to extend the wiring to where needed.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I didnt take any pictures but the whole thing is easy to pop out and look at. The trim surround just pulls out from the bottom (after putting the gearstick all the way back) and then you can see the individual connectors for the switches which (except for the haz warning triangle) have a single latch on the drivers side which you can depress witha small screwdriver blade. The switches themselves just push out from behind.

Connectors are very easy to remove. No pictures, sorry.

Wood frame is also very easy to remove without having to remove anything else.

Each connector harness has five 0.35mm2 wires in it as far as I remember. I just soldered in extensions into each wire and wrapped with 3M Scotch Super 88 Tape and then with Certoplast. This solution will last forever.

I chickened out from soldering mine . The part of the loom for the fog light switches is tie wrapped at the back left. What I did was to snip the cable tie, and was able to swap the switch positions. Because I did it this way, I also moved the ESP switch as well.

As Davis'8 and notorious said, the trim is easily removed, as described by them.

I am not sure if the loom is the same on your 3.7 as the cables for the two fog light switches are taped into the main bundle and despite cutting a cable tie holding the main bundle to a frame deeper in the dash (in order to pull out the bundle as far as possible to work on) there was never a chance that the cables for the switches could be pulled across to the far side.

That might explain it, and why it was easier for me. I noticed from the photo in once of the earlier posts that notorious has switches for the rear blind and (I think) folding headrests, so that would add to the loom behind the dash.

I have the rear blind but not the rear headrest (lowering) function so I am left with a single blank at the left side. Now what can fit in there to cure that problem?......

Fit the headrest switch anyway and if required use it for something else. I know that Oli18 had his as a latching relay switch to turn on and off his gala feed for the sat Nav screen tv function etc

I've put the switch in mine rather than see a blanking plate

I had thought of just fitting a dummy but would like it to have a real function. May be muting the volume on the speed limiter?
