Default 1998 A8 D2 Parts Wanted!

Hi All,

As per my introduction post wanna save the A8 i have purchased and to do so need a few little bits and bobs to get me started on the way to getting it back on the road.

I need the following:-

Drivers Side/Off side/Right Side Front Indicator
Throttle Pedal
Boot Struts (as it nearly decapitated me when I was looking in the boot lol)
Front centre Armrest Or a Repair Kit (passenger one has snapped off)
Power Steering Pump (might flush first as slightly stiff when stationary)

Think that's it for now till I find other things lol

Thanks all

Have you also tried the forum sponsors on the number above (01642 783537) or their eBay pages 'A8parts', as you're also likely to get a bit of a discount as a forum member or from ordering multiple parts?

As you saved the car from being broken up and hope to get it up and running again, you might want to consider starting a separate thread on how the job is going, as we're all interested in seeing these cars preserved.

As an incentive, have a read through some of the WITW threads listed below that MikkiJayne has produced... although these are more pole vault height achievements compared to the rest of us who are more at hurdle height:

Welcome and good luck!
As for the armrest, unless you're wedded to the PF look, the best solution is to fit a pair of facelift ones.
Very easy to swap (just one bolt IIRC) and a much better and more robust design.
I did it ages ago on my long-departed PF S8 when the metal failed in one of the arm mounts and had no regrets.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

What year is the best one to get?
When you say one bolt I take it the mount is the same you just take the old mount out and put the new mount in its place ?

You replace the entire armrest unit, central pillar and armrests themselves.
I think I had to actually buy a bolt separately as it's different before and after the facelift, which was I think around 1999.
Our sponsors will advise if you go to them.

Edit:
Armrests (these are grey with phone cradle) on eBay from our sponsors: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134146890363

Whats's wrong with the throttle pedal, is the top part gone? Mine was like that, no problems getting MOT, it's been only brake and clutch that need antislip on them. It's not like you are going to floor it on throttle in an emergency your foot going to slip off it and hit the brake instead of throttle .

Yes basically it's the pedal footplate that's missing the rest of the pedal is still there
