Default New Audi Naming Convention - EV vs. ICE

It appears that Audi is starting to implement another new naming convention, this time for the model name. In the Audi annual media conference, Markus Duesmann hints at what it will entail.

Specifically, EV vehicles will have even numbered names e.g. A4, A6, Q4, etc., and ICE vehicles will have odd numbered names e.g. A5, A7, Q5, etc.

Mentioned around the 47:45 mark in the following video:

I saw something about that. the A4 for example will be renamed A5. Could get quite confusing for older models.

Exactly. So the likes of the A5 and A7 will now come in saloon and Avant versions.

What about the hybrid models? Are they 4.5 and 5.5 etc? Weird...

Crazy, more like. Anything with a combustion engine will be odd numbered.

Maybe they are insinuating that it's odd to want a car with internal combustion... I can imagine that it'll also make it easier for accountants to see which model (and therefore propulsion type) sells better.

This is so stupid. Why not just give the EV Audi vehicles a "E" designation? For example E1, E2, E3 and so on. And for the SUV a "EQ" designation? For example EQ1, EQ2, EQ3 and so on. It would make is less confusing.
