Sorted thanks Jim!
It's even more confusing than that because MJ is sending 8 and me 2 but I'm getting 3 back and she 7 back (don't ask lol)

The order intake is now closed.

Everyone who signed up should have now received a PM from me with details.

Make sure you pack it well, I ordered 2 from forums sponsors, and one of them came damaged with the tab broken off, they are very very fragile by now and I'll do my best not to damage yours.

I took mine out today and had no problem releasing the switch from the mounting plate.
I did it by pressing in the retaining catch tips from the outside with a small plastic tool, rather then pulling on the loops.
I'm sending it in using Royal Mail's collection service which is currently no extra charge!

I then looked at cleaning the plate, mines a beige one so shows markings and chips.
I tested on the lower part near the screw; my "go to" chemicals for cleaning plastics, Meths and Isopropanol, both also soften and dissolve the paint!
They work well, so if you're very careful, gentle and quick might get away with them.

I used white spirit in the end, fairly effective, just need to find something to fill in the chips which show primer/plastic that is near-white in contrast. A raid on SWMBO's nail varnish stocks might prove useful?

It would probably be possible to strip the soft-touch stuff and repaint in conventional colour-matched aerosol with a matt or satin lacquer. As far as I know, no one has yet successfully replicated the original soft-touch finish though as aerosols create significant orange peel.

I have some bad chips on the mounting door insert which I want to address. I found that the closest match in colour and mattness (for those with a "Twist" interior) was Halfords Camouflage Spray Paint - Khaki ultra matt. Today I tried it on a plastic surface and its looks good - not exact but very close and has the right matt look. Its too cold to spray paint even in the garage today but I'll try it out on the insert and post some piccies. (Its certainly better than the scratched item and, being isolated from other similar coloured items, will be be hard to see any difference)

David, I've just touched in my scratches with a tiny thin brush using grey car primer! Actually hid them surprisingly well.
Depending on the damage, try spraying into a small cup/cap and collecting the paint as liquid then using a fine brush to fill in, rather than spraying the whole thing.

Andrew, I thought yours was Twist too? I have thought about the spray/touch up method and used it elsewhere (wheel centre caps to be precise) so that might be a method Ill try first
