From a legal perspective, this will very likely be an expensive day for the Mazda's insurers.

The Mazda emerges from a side road onto a main road when it was clearly unsafe to do so. The road is straight, and the view up the road means that the Lambo was there to be seen.

Although we can speculate about the pre accident speed of the lambo (and I have to say it does not look excessive, or recklessly excessive to me) this is largely irrelevant. You have to look at the causative potency of the situation. Whether the lambo was doing 20, 30, or 40 (I doubt it was more than that), at the time when the mazda pulled out, it was very likely too late for the lambo to avoid a crunch.

Clear the mazda driver was pulling out without looking or engaging brain. They were the sole cause of that crunch, and they will go down for the lot.

Couple of things:

1. That is Sloane Street, a major shopping street with plenty of pedestrians, would not be at all surprised if limit here is in fact 20 mph.

2. Either way, the speed limit is not the minimum speed, we should always drive according to conditions and surroundings, and the Lambo was evidently going to fast, whether that's 20mph or 50mph, given that he could not stop in time to avoid this collision. Look at the number of side junctions that a car or bicycle might pull out of, the number of parked cars at side of road that a young child might have emerged from.

With experience, we all start to drive more defensively, anticipating what might happen, in my opinion the Lambo driver was not doing this. Sure, the Mazda pulling out is a numpty, but a collision would have been avoided had the Lambo driver been driving to the conditions and circumstances.

I don't see how you can make out that the Mazda is totally at fault. He is emerging slowly from a junction, so is being cautious. Watch the video and pause/start it with the spacebar and as I said before, the Lambo doesn't even attempt to brake. Even as he disappears behind the Nissan, his brakelights still aren't on.

I agree that stopping distance is going to be further due to him being airborne, but he was driving without due care and attention. I don't know the area in question, so can't comment on whether the Lambo was speeding or not.

We can try a bit of rough maths. As time turns from second 1 to second 2, the lambo nose just passes the parked SUV. As time hits second 3 the nose of the lambo hits the nose of the BMW. Between the SUV and BMW you can squeeze in another 2 standard cars.
Assuming standard car length is 4.5m, the lambo, after initial collision, travels 3 x 4.5m in 1 second (roughly).
Thats 13.5m/s = 30.2mph
One would hope he hit the brakes before 1st collision, plus the decelerration after collision, he must have been going more than 30mph for his post-collision velocity to average at 30mph.

One thing is almost certain, given that the car pulling out of the side road was moving very slowly, he had plenty of time to see it (if travelling at an appropriate and legal speed) and stop.
Being LHD and a wide car won't have helped, but a driver should allow for that obviously.

Just googled this and seen lots of press stories.

The tone of these frankly annoys me. The fact that he's a young guy in a supercar who has a decat does not automatically mean that he was driving like an imbecile. I take the point that seeing a car pulling very slowly out of a junction should have put Mr Lambo on notice that the mazda might not stop. It would certainly have had me, at the very least, covering the brake just in case - but ultimately this was 99% down to the mazda who, seemingly in a world of their own, drove where they wanted when they wanted without regard for details such as stopping at junctions or giving way or even looking.

No it doesn't but the evidence of his apparent speed does, plus the various anecdotal and video evidence that this same car has previously been witnessed being driven like an imbecile.

As you said yourself, you would have at least been covering the brake pedal. Most, if not all of us have had cars pull out in front of us like this, I myself had a cat try to kamikaze in front of me just last night, but because I was in a residential area driving slowly according to my surroundings, I was able to react and stop in time, like most of us would have done had that Mazda pulled out in front of us.

Of course accidents happen sometimes, sometimes they just can't be avoided no matter how well you're driving, but to my eyes, this does not look unavoidable.
