Default D4 Valet mode?

Hi all.

Since getting this car I've never been able to open the boot lid using the key fob. The boot handle and the interior switch both work fine but I cannot open the lid remotely. It kind of negates the advantage of a power lid. Anyway I've googled this and all info tends to point toward a valet switch in the glove box but for the life of me I cannot find one. There is, of course the MMI options but this seems to be to enable/disable the boot handle and does not affect the remote non-function. Neither of my keys work for this. The rear lights (or is it the indicators) flicker while the key is operated (5+ seconds) so there is obviously a signal.
Does anyone have a fix/pointer for this please?

Cheers Steve.

Going by the user manual, the valet mode button should be pretty obvious (although it isn't red, as shown). The manual also mentions that to operate the boot from the remote, the button should be pressed 'briefly', as opposed to the 5+ seconds you mention. One post I did see suggested 'resetting' the key, by removing and replacing the battery in it. Since neither of yours work, this might be easy option to start with, although it doesn't seem to make sense if the remote locks/unlocks the car.

Hi Sean and thanks for the reply.
The pic you kindly sent does indeed show the location of the button but on my (UK spec?) car this space is occupied by the airbag on/off switch. I cannot find any reference, pictorial or otherwise to a valet button on a UK D4. Maybe it doesn't have one and I simply have a fault on my boot catch. I'll keep on researching and welcoming suggestions.

For the key to open the boot you need to be standing behind the car.
Also, do you have the option to open your boot by poking your foot underneath the back and withdrawing it, while the key is about your person of course.

Hi and thanks for replying.

Yes I've tried to open the boot with the fob whilst standing behind it to no avail. I'm unsure if my car has the 'foot under the back' facility or not. I can try.
It may be worth mentioning that last autumn the boot malfunctioned. The lid would open halfway and stall. It could be manually lifted. Using the button on the boot lid it would partially close but not latch. I held the lid down with duck tape to weather proof and ordered a new latch (genuine part). When I went to change the mechanism I discovered it had 'rectified' itself so I decided to delay changing over until better weather. To my shame I still haven't done it. Maybe the iffy latch is causing this. The key fob option has never worked during my ownership.
