Default D2 FL MOD: Fog light buttons near driver's seat

OK, I'm doing a number of things with my centre console,
i.e. retrofitting radio controlled clock, tidying up wiring
and experimenting with RNS-E 2010+, AMI, can gateways etc.

So I removed wood fascia from centre console and remembered that I wanted to move those fog light buttons closer to driver's position.
Sometimes i want to flash someone with fog lights, but I just find them too far to reach in RHD car. Well, I now have all 3 buttons with LEDs
on one side, and all other less important stuff on another side. I needed to extend two fog lights sub-looms (5 wires each) to reach new position.

P.S. Yes, I know I'm crazy

Surely you could have come up with some button or other on the steering wheel that fires a laser at the button where it was in the first place!

I think that's a neat idea, especially since I don't have the rear blinds and I'm not likely to be pressing the ESP button. It might be something I might tackle, but what exactly is involved in the need 'to extend two fog lights sub-looms' properly?

I like this too and also find that the fog light swithces are too far away for convenient use. But if the wiring needs to be extended, I'll give it a miss.

You need to remove just the faceplate. Then on my car I needed to add a bit of length to wiring loom so that two fog light looms reach new button position.

There are 5 wires in each loom. Basically cut the loom in the middle and solder in a about 15-20cm of new wire so that the loom becomes longer. Then wrap new extended loom with Certoplast and it will look stock and untouched.

If you go to Reading area Jim make sure you visit me. I'll solder those wires for you and will teach you to use soldering iron too -- this is very easy if you use rosin core solder. For free of course.

Better still, you could bring your soldering iron up the the Annual Meet in Scotland next year!
