3.0TDI Hot Start Issue, Very Slow Cranking

I had done my headlights with the 3M kit on two occasions but they only lasted a few months.
I popped round to the chap that does all the painting on the fleet cars that I was involved in. His comment "No gaurantee but come round Saturday morning". Probably 30 mins sanding and polishing with air drills, spraying with clear varnish and drying in the paintshop oven. Still good some 9 months later.
Cost to me . . . . zilch.
Of course I complained but his answer was I desrved it'cos all I've done for them???? All I've ever done is drive him and his family to/from the airport and then he has always paid the company for that.
