ECU problem
I received an e-mail from the Audi dealer on Friday.
They have changed the fuel pump, but it wasn't faulty. Turns out it is the ECU: 4D0997557EX Which was filled with water according to Audi. And they weren't able to locate a used unit in Sweden. I haven't talked with them yet. As I arrived back home late last night. Was gone for two weeks working in Norway. So what do I do now? I looked for the ECU on 8parts shop, but didn't find any. Do you recommend I send it to http://www.ecu-repairs.com/engine-ecu-repairs/audi ? Oh! And does the ECU have to have an exact match in the last two letters? I see https://trshop.audi.de/konakart/Quic...57EX&x=11&y=13 has other variations.

Is that in the ECU box in the engine bay? Was that full of water too?

Any part number with X at the end is exchange part from Audi meaning that you need to return old part to them. The correct part number for 32V S8 automatic is 4D0907557N. This should help you with the search or alternatively I do have spare unit if you are unable to find one elsewhere. The replacement unit will need to be paired to immobiliser unit in the car using VAS5054, VCDS or similar tool. It does need to be N at the end but physically all the letters should be the same, just different software for A8/S8 3.7/4.2 and manual/auto boxes.

Two in Germany and one in France when using part number 4D0907557N on eBay. All pre-owned and around the £150 mark.

See thread http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=13800 edit: Thank you for the info ainarssems. I will go to the Audi dealer tomorrow and learn more (and how much they will charge me for doing a job that was unnecessary from the start)

The engine ECU is definitely in the box under the bonnet, base of the windscreen.
It is rather prone to filling with water if its seals are poor. Not sure what sequence (what's on top etc.) the various ECUs are in a LHD car though, but for sure it should all be dry so it all need checking. You "may" be lucky just drying everything out properly.... (I've got a facelift 40V engine for which the ECU is 4D0 907 559 AA)

An update.
ODB Tuning in Karlstad did repairs on the ECU. They told me there were no traces of water in it. Weird as Audi had claimed it was damaged by water There were however damage to the contact. See the top on the middle contact. Plus it was cracked in the lower part, which they have tried to glue. And there was one pin missing in the 4th contact from the left. The second row pin 2 was missing (again counting from the left). They also replaced a gasket. 1500 SEK. I love these guys They repaired the Driver Information Display and coded my new keys to the car. ECU dropped off at Audi before closing hours

I do not know yet. Audi sent me an e-mail this morning, confirming they have received the ECU. And that they will try to get the car running again next week.
edit: You know. I am starting to believe that they will run and hide whenever I step through the door Whispering ...*look busy* They have pulled out an old VAG 1551, I think he said. Should be a large blue box by the description; with a small printer module that takes forever. The one who received the ECU from me, admitted that he was scared when I had reported the engine oil light immediately after the service. He considered telling me to not continue driving. And when I called two days later that the car had stopped. He believed it had a real oil pressure fault, and that the engine was severely damaged
