From watching your videos on it, and not being able to find anything specific about it, I think you are now our 'resident expert' on the subject.
I did come across something that might give you an idea of what's involved. In the following PDF from the D2 Tech Dump thread, there is a section about removing the dash panel. It starts on page 270 (Group 70, part 8.3) and goes to the first line on page 272, but since you won't be removing the dash panel itself, you can just concentrate on the parts around the steering column. Note that is doesn't involve instructions for removing the steering adjustment from the column, but should give better access.
