Default Timing belt kit

I need to get this sorted soon and, according to one local Audi Indy, Audi don't do a kit which includes the water pump and thermostat. And they're quoting £389 for the belt, rollers and guides (fitted, inclusive) plus £171 for the pump plus £556 for the thermostat (with housing). That can't be right, can it?

What kit do you guys use?

Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

Seriously? That's more than what it cost me to get the entire job done. Admittedly, I tend to buy what I can afford, but the parts cost me £345 and the mechanic charged £160.

Price for belt, rollers and guides including fitting is not bad, does it include damper as well, they are around £150 from the dealer on their own? Water pump with seal should be £113, funnily enough pump on it's own without a seal is a lot more expensive. Thermostat is £26, there is no housing as such but cover is £72 but it does not need replacing. Also might as well replace v-bet with rollers as well while they are off.

Check mister-auto.co.uk

In the norwegian site i use (mister-auto.no) they have a Contitech Timing belt kit with damper, roller and guides for GBP 179 (currency converted)
But i could not find it on the UK site for some reason but the must have it..

They also have the waterpump at GBP 68 and thermostat at GBP 20

Aaah.. see now that your prices was including fitting..

Well

Does anyone have the ability and inclination to list the parts, part numbers and prices (Audi) that I should be looking at for a 'thorough' job? Not sure what the 'V belt' is.

Poly v belt is the accessory belt (what us older folk would've called a fan belt when that's all it drove) so on our cars drives power steering, water pump (iirc), air conditioning

Ah, I've just had a new fan belt, so I'll give that a miss. Thanks

I got all the timing stuff done on my car last year (o.e INA stuff) and im pretty sure, although the belt was only about 20-30 quid, that the tensioners were ruinously expensive - and that's at COST price.

So £150 sounds decent for the belt kit

Bear in ind the whole front end has to be removed to do the job properly. Its down as a labour time of around 10hrs IIRC

The water pump was about £80 quid for the OE spec one I bought - The thermostat housing may be an OE item with your local audi specialist making a mark up on it from there tho. I suggest pricing it yourself.
