Was thinking about purchasing an in-car camera like one of the Blackvues (once I get my A4 up and running and sold). Does anyone have one installed, or any other make for that matter, and if so, how did you wire it in?
I'd like to get one and have it installed between the mirror and windscreen, but was just wondering how you get power to it. Rather than have wiring running around the windscreen and eventually to the cigar lighter, I'd prefer to have it hard wired. The Blackvue have an optional Power Magic, which allows the camera to run in 'Park mode' (switches camera on via motion detection near car).

A friend of mine installed a Pittasoft Blackvue "Event Cam" into his Merc S class so I'll try and find out who fitted it for him etc and get some pictures next time I see him. he fitted it for peace of mind more than anything. Halfords were offering one called I-pixie also. I think the wiring was run around the inside windscreen rubber. I think if you are going to fit one then the next question is front, rear or both?

There are two very good websites which just test review and give solution to faults on all dashcams on the market, links below.
Plenty of reading about each camera type in search MINI 0801 , there will be a review of camera from ebay links on the bottom of this post http://dashcamtalk.com/ Second website is http://www.carcamcentral.com/ To avoid any pink sky or recording issues or overall picture quality the very bottom camera you should buy needs to be equipped in Ambarella image processor and this will offer you a good entry level quality. Plus I'm personally not to fussy about dash cam as long it offers spec as above and the size of these two cameras (ebay links) is so compact inc little lcd that it can be very nicely installed/hidden in a8's behind the mirror and that makes it my favourite entry level camera for not to fussy user which isn't expecting HD tv sky movies quality ![]() And £70 its a very good value for money http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3108009966...600%26_rdc%3D1 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1212274740...046%26_rdc%3D1 Plus installing it is a nice project as it can be done and hidden very well ![]() Remember, they still may have problems, but there are superb cameras in the region of £200-£300 It depends how much you want it? How much do you expect from picture and sound recording quality? Do you bother about the size of the screen and stylish design IF you wont be playing with it all the time?? Do you have a budget?? Plenty of choice out there, I am still making my mind but the mini one is my favourite one cos of the specs and cos I'm not that bothered in overall about a dash cam, is more about a gadget to me, but I do appreciate how helpful this recordings can be or how much money they can save. Did you know that Police in UK has launched a website where you can upload your dash cam recordings if you catch on your camera idiots speeding, being dangerous, mobile while driving, and they really do prosecute people base on this uploads

My mate got one that uses an SD card, it does speak Korean at you when you start the car. Initially got it to record his off-road adventures (he has a Range Rover), but after the untimely demise of my XC90 (the wing mirror of which is still on the A69 roundabout apparently) he uses it all the time.. Will try and get the details from him as it wasn't expensive, but records in decent video.
