Default Treated myself to a GoPro

Had a mental week with a couple of 18-hour working days so treated myself to a new toy this evening, a GoPro Hero 3. £160 from Argos at the moment.

I suddenly thought it might be great as a dashcam. Top quality footage and with the loop function. Has anybody had any experience of them?

Also downloaded the GoPro app which lets you change all the settings and view the picture live remotely Should keep me busy over the weekend!

Get the GoPro Chest Mount and treat the missus to a new home movie, she will simply love to watch the quality from 1080HD

Ignoring the bedroom cam, I've had various cameras over the years that I used in my 450 bhp Evo 9 and Noise is always lacking behind vision in every one I tried, I ended up with a little tiny one costing just £35 in the end as this gave the best all round audio and visual combination and would take up to 32 gb's so you could do a couple of decent track session of ten laps each with no worries.

Regards, Mark.

Model: MY 2008 08 3.0TDI Quattro Sport, Black on Black (Transporter Edition) Lowered 60mm on drop link bars. Alloys swapped out to RS6 style 20" x 9.5". It's got full tints on all windows, and has the black leather interior. Remapped by Elite Automotive in Cornwall, giving an increase output to 290bhp/450lbs.

Options: Keyless Entry & Start, Bluetooth Hands Free, Quad Zone Climate, 3 Spoke Sports Tiptronic Multi Function Steering Wheel, Black Leather Comfort Seats, AMI, Drivers & Passenger Electric Memory Seats, Auto Dimming Mirrors, Bi-Xenons.

Future Plans:
Selling my current Audi A8 Quattro Sport and replace is with a newer D4 Audi A8L with the 4.2V8 Twin Turbo setup once again it must be black. I'm looking for one with the options added where it has the rear recliing seats, with heated outers. Bose speakers minimum and B&O's if affordable. Rear and back door sun blinds prefered.

Planned Mods:
Upon the arrival of my A8L D4, I will be once again having the ECU remapped to a performance setting over economy. Rear Tints as dark as can go whilst also tinting the front windows with a medium tint. Once again I will be purchasing lowering links for the air ride suspension and setting it at 55mm lower when in comfort as my desire rideheight over standard. Alloys will be 21" however the one current most likly to be the next car already has a brand new set of 2016 S8Plus wheels on it.

Toying between one of these and the Garmin Vibr, but at £160 might just go with this and a bike mount for all the crazy people out there..

They don't really work as dashcams due to the battery life being pretty poor. You get about 2-2.5 hours from a full charge. I took some footage during the Scotland meet, but never got around to posting it on YouTube yet.

As for dashcams themselves, I got the E-Prance Mini 0801 from Amazon UK:

You can see footage from the annual meet with this one on my YouTube channel:

Before buying it, I never realised there was so many accessories one could buy! I need to try and control myself lol

Bought a couple of extras batteries, a cycle mount, rollbar mount for my new car and a suction mount set.

Used it a few times as dashcam with a 32gb card. Works well because of the slight fish eye lens. Only downsides are indeed the battery life (although it does charge quickly), and the fact it gets very warm!

Here's one quick clip I took using it to test the 1080p mode:

Fortunately for me, that was a work car. But either we've been extremely unlucky, or there is a serious design flaw with the new Range Rover. We change this one every 3 or 4 months and the same problem occurred with the previous one: some of the rubber on the near side wiper blade rips off after a few weeks use. Specifically where the pressure is applied to the glass by the wiper arm. Very strange. Will be interesting to see if the next one has the same issue.
