Default Foglight error

On my audi A8 d2 3.3 TDI the fog lights just stopped working one day. The fuse on the passenger side is ok, aswell as the bulbs. What is the problem?
When i push the foglight switch nothing happens, its dead. not even a light comes on inside dashboard.

Any ideas?

don't think its the wiring because it happened so fast. i started the engine, switched one the lights and hit the foglight switch. The green light came on for less then a second and haven't worked since.

Where can i find the relay?

Does anyone know how to get the foglight switch out?
think the switch is broken since the rear foglight switch works.

As noted above these symptoms point with very high certainty (if it's ALL fog lights) to a control unit/relay or fuse.

Fuses usually blow for a reason though......

Sometimes relays are standard units and there can be several identical ones in a car, facilitating "testing by swapping"; in this case though it's less likely due to the interlinked way foglights work with multiple inputs and multiple outputs.

Personally I would identify it and see if A8 parts have one available. Probably the cheapest method of initial diagnosis and quite likely a fix too.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

i used a multimeter to check bulbs and fuse.
yesterday i did get the foglight on by accident. the multimeter pin connected to circuits when i was trying to measure the switch. So i don't really know what the problem is since both the switches works fine one rear foglight.

Like I said...

If you know nothing about electrics then I suggest you get someone who does as you could cause a lot of damage......
You were lucky that whatever you shorted caused the lights to come on, if you'd put the volts directly to earth it could have been serious

Best to get help
