Hey Ben,

Really gutted to hear that - lets hope that medical science gets its act together really quickly.

As said above if we can do anything let us know.

Niall

Ben. I'm shocked and so sorry to hear your situation. It really puts all our motor related niggles in perspective. I was reading about gene therapy going to very early trials for macular degeneration just the other day. If realated to your condition I can send a link over to you if you want.

Default Gutted

Ben,

Mate, I'm absolutely gutted for you, but I do have some faith in medical developments: the last 10 years have seen quantum leaps in medical advances. Best of luck with everything and our thoughts are with you.

Jim

Thanks again guys.

Been doing some digging and seems only possible help is stem cell based. The gene therapy seems ineffective as I belive now my condition by have been dramatically accelrated by my rediculous high blood pressure, thus allowing the blood flow over the Macular adn starting the process. I'm not 100% but it all fits together. A chap who specialises in this is calling from the RNIB today to discuss my options and possible future treatments.

They have successfully restored Mice's vision from total blindness so fingers crossed!

In the mean time my new sun glasses are he;lpin LOADS when outside, even if it's not bright. Makes driving less scary!

No use being fed up, there's people far more intelligent than me spending their lives trying to cure this issue so fingers crossed and just enjoying now.
