Hi Michael,

Yes, VCDS would report the Amp in CP. I think it would also report if there is a short to ground or open circuit with the speakers.

I guess you don't have VCDS, so as you have the door card off I would test the speaker wiring with a multi meter back to the plug at the amp. Wiring diagrams and pin outs can be found in the D3 tech dump, document 2-Current Flow, to assist you. Good luck

VCDS can also do a speaker test. It's worth borrowing if you can.
