Sounds depressingly similar to the Auxiliary Coolant Pump that afflicts D2s and I think D3s to a lesser extent.

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Yes, I had this on my car - was repaired under warranty so no idea of cost - but I don't think it was a huge job! Good luck.

Thanks for pointing me to the other thread guys.

Took her for a spin today, warm air from blowers within 2 miles.

Then shortly after, all cool again.

So........i suspect from cold, heat builds up in the heater matrix and all is fine.

But.... as soon as the engine hits temp and the thermostat opens, i'm losing flow to the matrix, cos the pump is u/s, and all heat goes towards the radiator.

Fingers crossed, ordered the pump, i'll let you know how it goes.

Albert

Hi guys,

for info, the car is cold again, according to VCDS the pump failed at the end of August, but it's only recently turned cold enough to notice.

I've gone the aliexpress route this time, the last pump lasted ~5yrs.

Looks like i'm swapping it over the Christmas break
