Hydro-Mounts

Personally, I wouldnt waste the money on them.
I had one of them replaced for free under warranty one time my old D3 3.0TDI was in for a service. I did'nt notice any difference before of after.
Obviously it will throw a fault code but I can live with that.

You can avoid the fault-code by disconnecting the mounts and plugging in resistors sold by Audi themselves

I have replaced these type of mounts ...........hydro oil , vaccum type, viscous type on various models ...jags , mercs ,volvos .....ive not been able to tell a blind bit of difference driving and to drop subframe or flap about lifting engine up i just dont think its worth the agro , but its your call .

Does anyone have details about this Audi resistor mentioned earlier?

Its still a rubber mount, ignoring the electronic side of it.
Rubber breaks down, like all bushes and needs replacing and these being hydro they can leak.

The error might be a premature warning and they don't need replacing at all but they will need replacing at some point.

Surly putting a resistor in is like turning the stereo up when your front arms start to knock?

Good point Scott, but I am thinking a visual check of the mounts would suffice.

If its a subframe drop to do them better do the subframe mounts whilst your there .......then rear subframe .....then every suspension arm then anti roll bar .....

If you're going that far, might as well drop the unside, clean and reseal. haha

I've removed a set from a breaker and I don't recall it needing to drop the subframe.
As the mounting faces was flatish, all you have to do was remove the bolts, support the engine and lift a little, slide the mounts out and replace.
relatively easy job.

I had the sub frame drops, front or rears.
Trying to align them so they are correct is a bitch!!

That's MY kinda fix

I just got an error code on my 2005 D3

I'm a bit curious how, if audi has put resistors in....or if the mounts on mine are real they've lasted THAT long!!!
