Goran - did you make provision for the clutch pedal switch? I've just thought about that - its needed on manual models to encourage the ECU to let engine speed drop, and also to disengage the cruise control. Some wiring would be needed in a D2 to hook that up obviously.

There is an Allroad gearbox in Germany looks to be a 01E, but a bit pricey.

Oops, Allroad has the wrong final drive, 4.375
Although it has a better 2nd gear ratio, the S8 01E (DGV and FRN) 2nd is 1.889 and I can tell you its too long, it struggles under 2500rpm when really it needs to be useable from 2000rpm. Using 1st to crawl in traffic above 2000rpm is horrible, too jerky.
Allroad ratios here. Mental 1st gear, 3.75! That would be one fast car from stop.

Here are the A6 gearbox codes and ratios from Elsa. I dont know if this list covers all the 01E versions for the A6, there may be more?

Thanks Goran they are close enough to me. In fact I've been there it's amazing! I was delivering on the same road and while I was looking for my drop I stopped Outside, just looked up at the breakers yard and the very first car I saw half burnt out Ferrari F40!!!! That got my Attention and then I looked at the next car and the next they where all Ferrari's about 50 of them. The next racks had Porsches, TVR'S a amazing supercar breakers! They even do aviation.

Looks like that list is all of them. I have an FTL on the shelf from my old A6 2.5TDIq and the 3.75 1st is more like a crawler gear - too low even for a diesel. The FTL and ENV are the most common A6q 'boxes. There are usually a couple on ebay for ~£250-300. Perhaps to make it more suitable for an S8 1st should be replaced with something a bit higher?

Yes, the simplest option would be to bolt or weld on a short piece of aluminium angle onto the existing pedal box side bracket. Here is a rough sketch on the photo of the rhd pedal box. It needs to be checked how much room there is to go outward above the clutch pedal before hitting interior trims such as bottom of the dashboard. It only needs a few cm so I think it should be ok.
