Agreed , much of the time

But not on the M62(M1, M6, most city roads) at 08.30 or 17.00 on a week day, then I don't find much enjoyment

And I agree with both of you (and Brian too): 90% of my miles in the Tesla are driven with my hands nowhere near the wheel (because it'd be a waste of time...) - whether that be on the M1,5,6,8, 42,60,61,or (heaven forbid...) the 25 or 62.

But: when I want to drive it, I can - and that's when it becomes a real driver's car, with AWD, a ridiculously low centre of gravity (no great bit lump of heavy metal spoiling that ), and instant acceleration and power delivery. No regrets, never going back again

I fully understand Brian's point but i do have to say that having done the M6/5 to Bristol area from north of Glasgow area twice just recently I would have LOVED to have a system which would deal with the sections of those motorways where there is a 50mph limit where the traffic is constantly varying in speed between 10 - 50mph. THAT is NOT a driving experience I want to have!
Why the 37mph limit on the D5 I wonder?

To be fair, just having adaptive cruise gives you most of what you need in that situation.

I don't know what the various Audi (D3, D4 etc.) iterations do, but in our Volvo once you actually come to a total stop for more than about 10 seconds it will not move off again until you press the throttle or resume button on the steering wheel. But in varying speeds on a motorway it's great, just a little steering input occasionally. Huge stress reduction.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

D4 re-starts more gracefully than my old mans V60, but less so than the XC90 - but agreed, in the main it is all you need.

I actuality got car sick last year driving on the M62 over the pennines in an ACC D4, stop start traffic in fog! I wonder how often some Tesla drivers vomit

That is interesting Paul.
I have used CC on various vehicles for many years.
ACC only on a few VWs.
Have never been uncomfortable but do prefer ACC.

I think the difference between Tesla and Audis new system is number of sensors used, possibly the power of computing unit and use of AI in audi.

I understand Tesla uses 1x radar, camera ( not sure if just one or several) ultrasonic sensors and GPS.

Audis latest tech includes, 5 radars, laser scanner ( I think 1st for series production car), 5 cameras, ultrasonic sensors and GPS. All of that data need huge computing power.

AI is allegedly used which means it learns itself so does not need to pre-programmed with a solution for every possible situation, I guess this happens on test vehicles that gather data rather than customer cars and than the resulting software is used in production cars. On one side it is great on the other you don't ever really know for 100% what the car will do because software has learnt itself and was not pre-programmed.

If you wonder why odd number than it's because Germans do it in km/h and 37mph is ~60km/h. I guess it could be limited by how fast processing unit can handle input from all those sensors.
