unlikely the front and rear struts have failed at the same time so I'd be looking at the valve block or compressor. If you are keeping the car then VCDS is a very worthwhile investment. For now, all you can do is strip the passenger wheel liners and put some soapy water over the valve block to check for leaks. If the compressor keeps over running, it can burn out.

Thanks for the replies guys.
So i decided to buy an cheap vagcom scanner from amazon but when i connect (this is the second try, ive owned a bluetooth one for years and it says same thing) it says there are no stored codes in the module. Am i doing something wrong? Have I bought the wrong type? Ordered this ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Anyway no change in symptoms, front still stuck in v low position. getting booked into garage on friday. The guy there also suggested possibly distribution block. |

That looks like a generic fault code reader which will only connect to engine, it will not read suspension controller or any other units in the car, only engine.
If you want something cheaper than VCDS check out OBDeleven or Carista. Not used CArista myself but OBDeleven is OK.
