Sun Visor "Brackets"
My driver's side sun visor retainer / clip / "bracket" (4D0857561EE59) has snapped and to replace it there's a cover which is defeating my efforts to remove it. Has anyone here done the removal successfully? I hate to pry on it any harder for fear of breaking it and then having to buy another Audi part.
TIA, Tom

Haven't done it, but the attached photo may help. It's the inside view of the cover. It looks like the little lugs clip in next to the base of the metal clip. Can't tell if there's two or four lugs, but looking at the other photo I've attached, I'd try and detach the cover from the back first, though not sure what sort of tool you'd use. Confined space, so plastic trim tools too big and possibly not stiff enough. Best I can think of is something like a dental pick (but stiffer and blunter), pull down gently whilst using thumb on other hand at base of clip to stop the cover flying off/breaking when it does become free.

Thanks; those pics are better than the ones I've seen and show the retaining lugs to be way inside near the hole the hook protrudes through.
I used a pick tool like the curved one here and I pulled hard but man are these things on there! I'm wondering if using a straight pick to sneak between the lugs and their notches would work... I'll report back if any progress.

I use the curved type pick. They do come off with quite a pop.

That was my thinking for using your thumb to stop it flying off when it decides to let go.

I'm fairly confident I would end up with the pick stuck through my thumb if I tried that. Maybe hold it with some thick welding gloves...
