Engine ECU. With the manual swap the gearbox ECU will go away

If you can find the file that would be fab, and may well change the direction of this project I can write the eproms

Ah, wasn't sure if it was still needed in some limited way to keep the engine ECU happy even though it won't be doing much.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

That has been done in the past - keep the TCU and fudge the F125 to be in neutral so the engine still runs ok, but its a nasty hack. If I'm going to do it I'll be making it the way the factory did with a manual ECU that doesn't expect there to be a TCU at all

Turns out the eprom is a surface-mount 27C1024 so I'm not messing with that - I don't have the gear to remove and re-fit it. Bottom right with the sticker on it.

However, having realised I have almost all the parts needed to do the manual swap I put the original manual ECU number in to ebay for a laugh. One available, in Lithuania, for £100 delivered! Er, yoink!

So, if anyone reading the thread is pondering buying this when its done, you've got two weeks to get in touch and let me know whether you want it manual or automatic

In the meantime, I'll be working out how to make my clutch pedal solution work with the PF's accelerator cable...

I do have the tools to remove it and put it back on and I'll be passing by your workshop next week, you are welcome to borrow them or I can do it for you.

If the board has conformal coating on it it will be a pain to do it.

I may take you up on that if the ebay ECU doesn't work out, although I won't know that by next week. Its been a long time since I did surface mount work. There's no coating on the board

If Ronin is on board with socketing the ECUs then that's certainly one less hurdle. There's still a very limited amount of manual parts though. If I convert this one I'm almost certainly sacrificing the swap in my grey FL, or at least not being able to do it with factory parts.

Maybe I should not have mentioned a manual gearbox.....

That's interesting, I sold my spare headlight washer pressure cylinder to someone in Lithuania, it took weeks to get through customs so be prepared to wait!
