Default A8L and S5

Event #1 - at a garage in Shirley, when I had my A8L. (reg. A8 LFO)
Guy comes out of the garage, garnered my attention with this rather short but beautiful statement, all whilst pointing firmly at the LWB "Now that's a proper car - LOVE it!"

Event #2 - at a local garage, in my current S5 (reg. S55 LFO)
Chap outdoes me by rolling up in an RS5 (B8.5) with number plate R55 XXX or something, in a similar number format to mine. I wasn't expecting him to pay my lowly S5 a compliment so I was surprised when he struck up a conversation and said what a lovely colour it was and loved the sportback style.

Cheers all.

JWG

Just picked up the S8 from the MoT garage. (Pass, no advisories ) and the guy said "Lovely old bus [is that a compliment?], really clean car. The guys were all standing around admiring it. They dont make them like that anymore" .

They certainly dont - having just removed and replaced the Oil pressure sensor i have to agree. its hard to get to and needs a modified long reach 24mm socket manipulated with molegrips. I have the bloody knuckles to prove it.

Same issue here so I sought advice from The Oracle (aka MJ ), who sent me the link for the replacement sensor and the 24mm socket.

All sorted after 30 minutes garage labour - so I'm (slightly...) poorer, but Herman's fixed, plus my knuckles are still intact

Stephen, is that worth adding to one of the D2 repair "stickies"?

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Thanks David

PS: if anyone needs the socket tool I can send it on, 'cos I don't need it and the garage left it in my car...
