mines lookng the same
i havent tried taking the fuse out, but switching the phone off hasnt worked, and im now sure (according to audi ) the radio firmware is up to date which was the main solution in the TSB i havent reset it with vagcom this time, ive let it run so that audi can diagnose it better, when you delete the errors on vagcom the history is no longer there for them to see. Will be giving them a call this week to get it in again

Finally I have a resolution to this 2 year old problem
The fault is caused by the software in the Battery Manager, i have done a full write up here but in short if your software version of the Energy manager is between 0270 to 0490 a software change is required, you need to upgrade it to 0510 you can do it with a VAS505x by putting in an update CD PN 4E0 906 961 G in other words you need a dealer or specialist with the correct cd to do it you cant do it with vagcom

link is not working i also get battery manager come up ... but one thing i do know is that the battery allegedly always saves a portion of power for starting the car ... so it will shut down any luxurys ... stereo .. auto boot.. keyless entry ect ...to ensure you can always start the car and i think (dont quote me ) that the battery will be fine and its a management issue .. unless your car physically wont start or really struggles to start then the battery is fine and the managment is having an epidemic shutting things down to preserve power to start the engine when really you have plenty of power
would be interesting to see how the update is done ect if you can post another link ![]() http://www.audi-resource.com/ecu61.php Last edited by daviesbike; 24th February 2013 at 10:11 AM. |

dont know why that didnt work , link should be
http://www.audi-resource.com/mmifalsewarn.php yes your right, the car thinks its got a problem and shuts stuff off, though there is also a small drain which seems undetectable to diagnostic equipment (based on Audi not finding it for 5 days), this drain will kill your battery eventually as it did mine, others seem to have a lot more drain which causes the car to not even start. the enrgy manager is incorrectly calculating the battery. ive had a hell of a time with this issue for 2 years, so happy now its fixed, not sure on the cost as audi did it for free in the end. conversation went like this After 2 days Tech: there isnt a drain, so we are still diagnosing it after 3 days Tech we think we found the problem, your headrest monitors are wired in to the cigar lighter and causing a small drain me: No thats not it, they have only been there for 7 months, the problem for 2 years Tech : Ok will take another look after 4 days me: where are we tech: im currently working on whether the battery is coded correctly me: it is and even if it isnt the battery is new, had the problem for 2 years tech: oh me: lets think it through, the car says that the battery is low, is it tech: yes me: have you tested the battery tech: no the car says its low me: supposing its wrong tech: the car calculates it me: what if its not tech: the battery manager does it automatically me : what if its wrong, what if its calculations are wrong tech: im looking for a battery drain me: what if we dont check that but look at whether the energy manager is lying to us tech: mmmmm me : perhaps software version of the ecu tech: mmm its worth looking at 5 hours later (and after i trawled tsbs etc) tech: havent found anything me what about this tsb, for this exact problem that says i need a software update tech: il take a look next day: all done, seems to be fine now.. its done by either a dealer hooking you up and running a SVM (Software version management) Update or putting the correct version of update cd in to a VAS505x apparently the fix also fixes other issues, im not sure what these are

I still have trouble with mine...

I'm sure it is the radio. If I get in the and turn the radio on but not the ignition, then turn off radio by holding the volume knob in, then getout and lock the car, the battery will be flat in the morning. When I check batman quiscent state each state follows the other by a few seconds or minutes I would exprect it to be hours or it's pointless. Also, how does batman shut stuff down? Does it cut power to terminals or does it just send a CANBUS signal asking them to switch off? I suspect the radio is freezing on and ignoring the request to shut off. mmm, your issue is the extreme, the tsb says
if the SW version is between 0270 to 0490 a software change is required, however the latest software is 0590, so you could still try the update having said that there was another tsb for the radio causing this problem, will see if i can find it

here it is
MMI High: battery flat, engine doesn't start (closed-circuit current of radio module - MMI2G) Release date: 24-Aug-2009 Customer statement / workshop findings The vehicle does not start because of a flat battery. There is a local closed-circuit current of 700 mA in the MOST area (see battery history data). Technical background Software for radio module (K box). Production change Adapted software version for radio module (K box). unfortunately the fix seems to be to move to 5570 what software rev do you have on your radio (just in case it didnt update, when you did the update)
