Neil
They have confirmed
• Quartz grey metallic
• Tech pack – MMI Nav ‘plus’, inc touch pad, head up display
• 20’’ 7 twin 7 spoke wheels
• Bose surround system
• Park assist
• Rear view cam
• Ambient lighting
• Privacy glass
• De-badged

I assume this "Nav plus" is the better version of the MMI?
Looks like I might be grabbing this one after all
Cheers Glyn

Yes thats the full MMi that I had and the heads up display is pretty good too - also you have a huge hard disc on board for the music and AMI as standard, great spec there!

Gorgeous I love them, didn't like them when they first appeared, thought they left the back end as an after thought, but love it now
Been thinking about one when I come to part with my 8

The A7 is better than the D4 '8 in my opinion, and I remember Neil trying to shake me off whilst pulling away from a mini Borders meet! - which he did a reasonable good job of (at first…)

I'm still not convinced about the back of it, but the rest of it is very nice. Can't comment on the build quality, unless Audi give me one tomorrow whilst mine is in for a service , but I'm not sure anything would rival the build of a D2 '8.

Thanks guys
Cars ordered and once it's prepared, serviced and my plate moved I'll be heading off to fetch it. Sadly with the closure of the local dvla offices plate changes are slower. I have to say the shape has grown on me too, I often find this with certain motors.
I nipped down the local dealers today and test drove a similar model. Very impressed can't wait now didn't like the Matt paint fashion I saw in the showroom, ok if your a footballer or gangster I guess. I'll stick to shiny paint thanks!
I had enquired about a number of motors over the past few weeks, amazed how many dealers don't follow up enquiries and the total lack of interest when the eventually do. As luck would have it this car was at a mercedes dealers so they were keen to get my e350 and didn't appear to know the full spec of the A7. They are getting Audi to service the car and getting it fully detailed. If they make as good a job as the Merc dealer I bought the 350 off I will be happy. It was spotless they even took the wheels off and cleaned them front and back the car was like new. People thought I had bought the car brand new it was so well detailed, they really turn them out well so I gave high hopes for the 7
Once I have her home I'll get some pictures posted etc and let you know my findings. Can't wait to play with the tech toys!

Cheers Glyn

Good for you - enjoy, sounds like a good buy. Good luck with the Audi dealer - in my experience over the last 6 years, they are akin to Alitalia or BA flight crew, and seem to think they are doing you a favour

But that might just be my local dealer - and doesn't apply to the actual mechanics who work on the car, who are fine.. It's one reason why my next car is unlikely to be an Audi

Not really, it all gets sent off to Swansea anyway.
I did mine about a year ago (between the 2 S8's in my sig pic) and did actually go to the DVLA office (Borehamwood) which was rather a waste of time (not much as luck would have it) except they accepted the forms etc. and sent them to Swansea, who processed it all surprisingly quickly.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I like A7s. Wasn't sure about the rear on the beginning as well, but with time I fell in love. They look great, size is about right, not to small not to big.
They can be as good as A8s, but you will need all the extras which A8 has as standard to be close to same experience, it will cost you and if second hand then it may take some time to find the right one with all the gear you want

@hp sauce . Cheers hopefully they will get it all sorted quickly I am sending the v5 and paperwork to the dealer to sort by special delivery so the clock starts once they get I I guess. They will want paying and the car gone so I guess they won't hang around. The local offices like the one near me in Nottingham did this over the counter before for me a few times providing you had everything right. But over the last few years everything was then sent to Swansea and now they have closed or are closing most of them. Very difficult to speak to anyone at the dvla now who wants to help. I run a few classics and the boys in those circles are cursing them when they are registering or trying to get them tax exempt.

@M-A8. Thanks mate, I was looking for an 8 tbh but couldn't find decent specified ones for the right sensible money or with low miles. I hadn't even considered the 7. Although I had looked at the mb cls as the latest version of that is a very nice motor. I missed my 8 and ran it over 100k miles I only changed to a Merc as I wanted a D4 and could get one a couple of years back for sensible money. It seems there aren't as many well spec'd D4s as there were D3s when I was searching for that. Most seem to be se spec standard cars maybe with the odd additional tick in the box. The ones which are high spec are listed for silly prices and often have higher miles. And I could find any decent sport spec models at all which I had before. Just my experience I am sure they are out there.
I started looking at the a7 after reading a few reviews and the press rates them highly as do most owners from what I could see. This one happens to have had one private owner who ticked an awful lot of boxes making it a very expensive car new I would have thought. The back end looks better in the flesh too, I wasn't a fan initially but having driven one and had a good poke about in the showroom I am sold. I would have preferred black but the darker silvers do keep nice my Merc is a similar colour and always gets comments.
I have to say jumping in and out of my E350 which like this A7 was a well spec'd car listing at nearly 50k was eye opening. The quality of the Audi in terms of the dash and the materials used is light years ahead and the Audi makes the Merc feel decidedly budget. Even the pillar less doors close with a nice thunk where with the Merc I have always found them to be a weak spot and sound "loose" if that makes sense. Like the Audi they drop the glass a centimetre when the door is opening and this makes the door feel less solid when shutting. Audi seems to have got this to work better IMHO. The sound deadening of the engine, important in a diesel, is much better in the Audi. Coming from a car with very adjustable electric seats in both my D3 and the MB was one concern as I do like to get my seat right and on memory but the a7 seats are very good, not quite as adjustable as the Merc but very comfy and even with my son who's 19 now sat behind me there was enough legroom. I'm 6.3" so tend to have the seat fairly well back. No one could have sat behind me in the Merc which always made it limited (it was a coupe though)
I'll update when I get the car but big thanks to all for the help especially Neil who's insight was invaluable.
Cheers
Glyn
