19" R8 spyder wheels???
I'm going to be getting my FE 20"s refurbished and whilst I was there i seen some 19" R8 wheels. They're wide at the back and narrower at the front. I was wondering would there be any issues with the Quattro system with this type of setup and what tyre size would my d2 s8 accommodate?? 275?? 295?? These would be the back and 255 at the front.
Thank you in advance |

Although the width of the tyres/rims is a limiting factor in terms of fitment, the issue with the Quattro system is the rolling circumference of the tyres, as they should be the same front and back, and there shouldn't be anything more than a 1% difference. You'll see this mention when they talk about renewing tyres.
The following site is a good way to check out possibilities if you have the full spec of the rims and tyres you're planning on using: https://www.willtheyfit.com/ It's also worth pointing out that you should pay special attention to the centre bore of the rims you're looking at. The D2 has a centre bore of 57.1mm (as well as the 5x112 PCD stud pattern). Most R8s have the exact same setup, except from around 2015 where they have two different bore sizes, 57.1mm on the front axle and 66.5mm on the rear axle. If you pick up one of these newer sets, you'll also need spigot rings for the rears.

Remember the wider wheels will need lower profile tyres to get the same rolling radius/circumference. So you'll need two pairs of different width and percentage height, ideally the same make and tread pattern.
Use a calculator such as that suggested earlier to do the maths; hopefully you'll find sizes that work.
