Default Battery goes flat.

My FL S8 seems unable to keep a charge for more than a week or two.

I've popped a few new batteries in over the last few years- but if I leave it for more than a week or two, the damn thing wont start.

Are there any obvious places to start looking for the problem?

Two possible culprits worth investigating:

1. The battery connection block underneath the drivers side chassis leg. It should have a black cover on it. Remove it and check for corrosion. There are photos of it on the forum, but here's an illustration on what you're looking for (item #10).

2. The voltage regulator on the alternator may be failing/failed.

Me too! - an (minor...) ongoing issue for years: wouldn't be a noticeable problem with Herman if he was driven more than once or twice a month

Ah.

I see I double posted.

Thanks again.

I guess I can check the voltage regulator by checking the batt voltage while it's running.

No problem. I thought I was having deja vu.

I read somewhere that a failing/failed voltage regulator actually causes a drain on the battery, but can't remember where I saw it posted. I'm also sure that one of the forum regulars replaced theirs not that long ago, maybe in the last year or so.

I replaced my alternator earlier this year, but that was a result of a coolant bath, nothing else
