I ask because I have the same fault after updating MMI to 5150. Also, I don't know if this is connected to the above, but when listening to any music (radio, AMI, CD) the volume does not lower or raise automatically with background noise. Previous to the update the volume would be adjusted to the background noise. It was a good feature and would like it back somehow.
No, I still have that fault code since upgrading. The volume does still adjust to background noise, at least it does on 5750. The adjustment is certainly more subtle and less noticeable than on the earlier firmware, but it does adjust.

Well,

All done and the MOT is passed with no advisories, and the headlight washers are now fixed so the D3 is set for another year.

Congratulations, here's to a year of enjoyable motoring in your D3. You've certainly put a lot of time and effort into getting it sorted, time to enjoy it

its all gone a bit pear shaped.

Yesterday the car let me down, flashing CEL and lumpy running. VCDS scan showed that cylinder 4 is misfiring, so a coilpack has gone down.

AA have been this evening, and car is being recovered tomorrow morning and being taken to Poole Audi for them to carryout the coilpack TSB that my car missed and they are doing that on Friday.

I am a little concerned, because according to the AA computer the car can be towed up to 30 miles at slow speed as long as all 4 wheels remain on the tarmac. Hopefully they'll turn up with a flatbed, but it looks like it will be a rodded tow from Blandford to Poole (13 miles or so) at slow speed. The car is travelling without me, so I have no idea if the AA driver will observe the speed requirements if its towed.

They might end up putting it on the dolly/A-frame.

Front wheels lifted and fixed to a frame with the rear wheels dragging.
Surly this will pop a diff of two?
They need to flat bed it.
I would not trust it over one mile traveling at point of mile and hour.

Just to keep this up to date, the AA recovered the car on a flatbed and the car was taken to Poole Audi on Thursday. Poole Audi kept me up to date throughout, they even called me to acknowledge they had the car.

Collected the car Friday PM, and its back to its good self having had all the ignition coils replaced. Hate to imagine how much 8 new coils would cost if I were paying.

I've driven it 150 miles since then and its running better than ever, so maybe its been acting up for a while.

Today I finally got around to sorting the sunroof lubrication properly. I'd been opening the sunroof a lot lately, and the groaning sound when closing had been getting worse. Last week it decided it was not going to close as it thought something was blocking the mechanism.

Got myself some white lithium grease, and after liberal application the roof is working perfectly again, and its completely silent when operating. I did notice some signs of wear, along the very outer runner but thats not hindering the operation of the roof.
