Default D3 front bumper removal - how to avoid ACC issues

Hi all,

I have to replace a front parking sensor which means the bumper has to come off.

As it has ACC, what should i be thinking about? ... would i be able to avoid a calibration session with Audi if i don't turn on the ignition for instance?

The guy that retrofitted ACC here took some pictures (scroll to bottom of the page)...it almost looks as though the bumper can come off without the ACC unit which appears to be mounted on the metal bar instead.

Thanks,

Oli

If you're careful... Then it should be OK. And as long as you line it back up exactly and don't disconnect the ACC, then it should be exactly as it was. Possibly even disconnect the battery to make sure it doesn't do anything daft.

Just do the -ve terminal as normal. It's only jumping or replacing battery that you have any funnies.

Hi,

Just wanted to give a quick update for other ACC owners thinking about removing the front bumper.

There is no need to worry about the ACC - the reason is it isn't mounted in the bumper...it's actually sat behind it on the impact bar. So if you remove just the bumper itself, you're not touching the ACC sensor so no recalibration issues.

Thanks,

Oli
