Question Paint Code Mystery 2002 S8

I have run into some problems regarding getting the correct paint for my 2002 S8 in order to repaint a new trunk GPS antenna. My Audi “build sticker” is blank where exterior colour code is normally printed . I have always thought it was Ming Blue, however none of the colour codes Q5Q5 or LZ5L match the colour of my car correctly. A telephone to the dealer was not helpful. They claimed the car had undergone “custom” paint colour from Audi and that it was a “blend?” between existing colours. I was asked to have the paint evaluated by a professional car sprayer that had some kind of electronic gizmo that could read any colour on the car and make the correct blend of paint. Sounds nice, but what about the mica in the current paint – how do they ensure that it comes out similar?

Therefore, my Audi friends: Anyone having same situation here as myself. Have I missed out on something here or did Audi or Quattro gmbh make custom coloured cars?

Any advise of how to obtain correct touch-up spray is much appreciated, my GPS trunk antenna is currently Ming Blue (Q5Q5) after first being LZ5L and they don’t match (both being darker, "bluer" and less mica)

Kind Regards
Yggrasil

I had the same problem on my car. The dealer supplied the chassis # to the factory who returned the paint code by e-mail
