Question Battery replacement

My battery has been relatively weak since I purchased the car. In fact, a service in 2007 (before I took ownership) hilighted that it needed replacement. The cold weather over the last few days, and a lot of short journeys, has finally killed it.

Anyway, looks like it was the original battery - lasted 7 years, which can't be bad.

Noticed the original (VARTA) was rated at 92AH, which is relatively high. I have replaced with a BOSCH 100AH battery. Does anyone know what the recommended spec is?

NB: a pain to replace...need to take the lid off the fuse cover to get it in at the right angle under the almost imovable positive lead...not much skin left on the knuckles.

New battery has made a hell of difference to the car.

PS: I have never seen the little venting tube from the battery on a car before. I assume this is needed because the battery is mounted in the sealed boot rather than under the airy bonnet?? Any ideas?

Anyone know what the official battery spec is? All the websites show slightly different stuff.

Hi Zip,

I have a spare one which you're more than welcome to have for free - it's in good nick and has about 2 years warranty left. I have the receipt too should it fail.

I've just checked the options codes on my car. The original battery is 450A (92 AH) if this helps anyone out.
