Default Aftermarket Double DIN Head Unit fitted

I wanted a head unit that would provide a good link to my ipod/iphone (more than aux in) and also hands free phone.

The Alpine units are excellent for ipod control and really quick and the new units have Parrot Bluetooth built in. So I fitted a single DIN unit:

But, no one makes a fascia surround for the FL A8 and (with a little bit of a nudge from Ian) I realised the unit didn't really fit in with the style of the car.

So I decided to swap it out and put a double din unit in:

And I am very pleased with the result. Had to get a fascia for an A6 and cut it down but it all went in well.

Next steps are to "plumb" 3 pairs of RCAs to an Blaupunkt 5 channel amp in the boot and then to upgrade the speakers. I want it all to be hidden though so I will keep you posted!

(I also managed to fit some LED side lights and Xenons yesterday, oh, and fix a broken drivers door catch!)

JeremyP, which surround adaptor did you use exactly? I've found these for around £10-15 and there is another kit for £35-40 which includes the cage.

Cheers.

Tony. I used the one with the cage although I only used the surround (not cage or foam padding, unit trim etc). It's a Connects2 CT23AU03A.

Its spooky how your dash seems to have morphed. Small for the 1st unit, big for the second. I keep looking and just don't get it
Nice job though. Neat and professional
