Unhappy Help with brake part numbers please

Can anyone help?

I need the part no for front brake calipers for a 1996 3.7 with 314 mm discs. Engine code AEW if that helps.

The set from the breakers rattle worse than the original set!

Default Thanks for the help

Thanks for that. Not sure about another set of used ones! Both sets I have tried have so much movement on the sliding pins that I can move them by hand. Rattle is now driving me mad.

once you have the price of a new pair of calipers check back here. there are upgrade routes that may be worthwhile.

I looked through my note book i had my caliper refurbed by a company called Transhock. He did say they only normally deal with trade, however it was £87.14 inc vat + £30 surcharge. £129.63 all in delivered and they refunded the £30 when they recived my old caliper.

Default Stumped trying to replace calipers

Thanks Dezzy

I have replaced the calipers with a used set (not from A8 parts) and they are worse than the first set. I can move them by hand. I have sent half a dozen e-mails to http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/vjscomponents/ who advertise new calipers for £135, but I cannot get them to reply to an e-mail asking them to confirm they are new rather than re-manufactured.

The only guys that I could find who remanufacture calipers were honest enough to let me know the set they were going to send me failed their pressure test and refunded my money. Fair play - but they can't get any more to try!

Although I am UK registered I work and keep the car in Ireland. The cost of sending calipers out here negates any returns or deposits. I have replaced all the ball joints and both sides still rattle over small high frequency bumps. The rattle stops at even the slightest touch of the brakes and i can rattle the calipers by hand. What else could it be?

It could be that the outer pads are not stuck onto the carrier. The pads come with an adhesive pad that sticks them to them inside the slide so they don't rattle. If they are removed and put back people don't bother to get new double sided sticky pads.....

Mine rattle too as the stickyness has gone. Do you have a recommendation for new sticky tape by any chance?

I thought that the spring clips were there to stop the pads rattling. I have tried 3 different make of pads until I got one with the clips.

None of them have had double sided tape. As you have to slide the pads in -how do you get the tape to the right spot?
