Default Olis D3 W12 Brake Upgrade

Anyone know if these would possibly fit with 18" Sport wheels?

I have been considering upgrading to 19" RS6 wheels or 20" FE but would keep the Sport wheels if they fit.

Oli,

My set up is 380mm and fits comfortably under 19" wheels (RS6 reps) I am going to try them on 18" wheels as they do look like they will fit. Your disks are only 5mm bigger so they may fit under 18s. My 19s may be for sale soon.

I think you'd struggle with 18s, would have thought 19" would be the minimum for 385mm discs.

If bigger wheels are needed, will probably be a while until these bad boys get put on ... they'll look sweet when done though!

Not sure about the ABS sensors.. I'd suck it and see, but it should be fine as the hub is the same and it has the reluctor ring in it.

WRT the pad wear sensors.. You're probably going to have to chop it. I'd see abotu getting the correct conenctor for the car end and splicing that in to save hassle later.

Or.. You could sell them on to a D3 owner at a knockdown price (hint, hint )

No need to change anything on the ABS sensors. The fit the hub carrier and read from the hub.

I did away with the pad sensors because I have a conscientious preventive maintenance process and know exactly how much pad wear I have!

Upgrading to DOT 5 or above depends on how serious a kicking your gonna give the brakes. can't do any harm!

Can i just cut off the sensor cables or would i be suffering from a DIS pad sensor fault displayed?

Yes, you can cut the sensor cables and join them up so that the circuit is 'shorted' to avoid a permanent pad wear DIS warning.

Hi,

So i had a go at this after work and i got to put the old and the new side by side for a moment - i was feeling pretty confident especially after seeing a post here of it just being a straight forward swap of parts...but he does appear to have different brakes to me...



Then as i tried to mount the first disc and caliper, i came to realise that the calipers actually seem to mount differently - please see the mounting points on the standard A8 caliper vs the new one...they mount on different sides of the bracket (if that makes sense) and no matter what i tried, it just didn't seem to be a standard bolt-on job.



I'm at a bit of a loss now...am i just not doing this right or is this setup just not as straight forward as i had hoped? If the latter, can i fix it somehow with brackets?!

I was really hoping to get it done tonight and to test these uber brakes

Your advice much appreciated...

A D2 A8 to D3 S8 conversion was never going to be easy (talking from a supposedly straight swap B7 RS4 rear conversion).

You'll probably need some kind of caliper adapter.

Talk to Ben at AVP for advice and don't sell them to Ian until you've given me first refusal.
