16 I got an ex Post Office BSA Bantam 125cc, passed my test and went onto 250cc then a BSA Gold Star 650cc - dogs bollocks in these days!

At age 17 I bought a Wolseley for £17 -10 Shillings, skimmed all the brake drums at school as a Project then sold it on for £25.

Now that I was a car dealer I used to buy cars from the Glasgow Market, do any work and re-sell. That helped with University expenses ie drink and wimmen and worked for a year or so until I had the Police at the door about a ‘cut ‘n shut’. I lost out on that so decided Car Dealer I was not!

20ish I fell in love with Mk 11 Jaguars – had lots of them and every one needed constant attention for summat or other.

24 or so I got married and my missus liked Minis – we had about 6 or so over 10 years, while I had a Cortina Classic, Hillmans inc a few Imps and a Triumph TR6 IRS – fast in a straight line but did not like corners!

30 odd – 3 kids so we needed big family things, mostly Ford Estates.

40s – graduated to Land Rovers/Range Rovers – still got 6 but only 3 Road Legal ones at the moment.

50s – back to Jaguars, XJ6s – I had to try but they still needed lots of TLC. BMW’s I only ever had one, a 525, hated the seats and driving position – all squint I found. A Merc or 2 – my E300 was a lovely car.

60s – found an A8 4.2 Quattro – I still try other things but it’s my favourite by far – currently looking for another one.

Present fleet:
Land Rover Discovery 300 TDi Auto 98/99
Range Rover 3.9 EFi (Bobtailed) 91
Range Rover L322 Vogue 06
Peugeot 307 (wife’s)
Ex Green Flag Recovery truck – for taking my Offroad Trialer Cars to Events
Ford Dexta 3 cyl ’58 Tractor
’02 A8

1985 1981-Y Audi 100CD. Grey car, Grey Interior. Yawn in evey way booring
1985 1982-Y Audi 200 Turbo. Huge torque steer, incredibly noisy early climate system. Nope

2004 1994-M Lexus LS400. Needed a reliable comfortable miler. Twas both plus a Toyota, say no more
2009 2002-02 Audi S8. I'm in love with motoring again, having never fallen out of it, but I was lost for a few years
And next... I see S8's stretching to a glorious eternity . Possibly not so far off the way these things move
Think I've missed a few. Plus some bought to sell, and a few of the dates are a bit hit and miss. Used to spend too much time hanging around car auctions.
